Besides clinical work he has been involved with sleep research for the last 15 years. The first randomized study to show that healthy lifestyle can improve sleep, even cure an existing sleep disorder, was led by Adjunct Professor Tuomilehto. His innovative approach in treating sleep disorders, have had a significant impact in changes in global treatment guidelines. He works with everyone from Finnair pilots to elite professional athletes – helping them use sleep to optimize all aspects of their lives. Henri is an internationally distinguished keynote lecturer in sleep and recovery. Tuomilehto has studied and coached over 1,000 of the world’s top professional athletes, including the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets helping players to improve their sleep aiming at better recovery and thus, enhanced performance.
Henri Tuomilehto can be described passionate, open-minded and he has a bold belief in his own vision. He resigned 10 years ago from his university & hospital career, started as an entrepreneur, and established his first sleep clinic. His journey as an entrepreneur has currently led to emerge of a new field of medicine, sleep medicine, and to first-ever sleep clinic network in Finland treating 1000+ patients annually. He has been recognized as a Specialist in Sleep Medicine by the Finnish Medical Association and an Expert in Sleep Medicine by the European Sleep Research Society.
Henri has been elected among the Top100 most influential persons in Medicine in Finland. He is a pioneer in combining the triangle of healthy nutrition, regular exercise and restoring sleep in his clinical practice. He has an extensive and long-term experience in sleep coaching and training among both, private consumers, and health care & well-being professionals. Besides lectures, he offers half/full day seminars and longer training projects. Webinars and on-line coaching are also available.
Henri Tuomilehto has recently published a best-seller “Sleep to Succeed”. “Sleep to Succeed” was nominated the Best Wellbeing book at FitAwards 2020. Academically he is an adjunct professor, and he has published around a hundred scientific publication and supervised a dozen of thesis.
