Journalist, author and commentator Send enquiry ›Liat Hughes Joshi is a journalist and broadcaster who specialises in parenting and family life. She is the author of five parenting books, published in the UK and internationally.
BOOKS
Liat is the author of five parenting books, including 5-Minute Parenting Fixes (Summersdale/ Octopus, 2018), New Old-fashioned Parenting (Summersdale/ Octopus, 2015), How to Unplug Your Child (Summersdale/ Octopus 2015) and Raising Children: The Primary Years (Pearson/ Prentice Hall 2010). Foreign editions of her books have been published in countries including China, the USA, Portugal, Romania, Italy, Slovakia and India, with Saudi Arabia and Germany coming soon. Extracts from her books have featured in international press.
BROADCAST
Liat makes regular appearances on TV and radio including for Sky News, LBC, Good Morning Britain, This Morning, ITV News, Channel 5 News and BBC Radio 5. She has also worked as an expert on Comedians Giving Lectures which will air on the comedy channel Dave in 2019. Always comfortable on camera and adept at giving her opinions in an engaging and often (appropriately) humorous way, Liat is a valued contributor with highly positive feedback from production teams she has worked with. Highlights of her broadcast career so far have included being part of the outside broadcast team for Sky News’ coverage of Prince George and Prince Louis’ births and more than holding her own in a heated debate on parenting with Piers Morgan on GMB.
CORPORATE WORK
Liat has acted as a campaign spokesperson for media days and press releases for major brands, such as Norton and Dove, receiving strong feedback on her ability to get client messages across without breaching broadcast channels’ guidelines and norms. As a former management consultant and with a management degree, she goes the extra mile to understand and add value to campaigns.
Within the Corporate Social Responsibility and wellbeing space, her parenting seminars for corporate clients help employees balance family life and work. Corporate clients have included Deutsche Bank, Warner Bros, Hogan Lovells, Pepsico, Unilever and Allianz Bank.
JOURNALISM
As a freelance journalist since 2002, Liat has been a contributor to all of the main UK national newspapers plus many magazines and websites, particularly The Daily Telegraph, The Guardian and The Sun in recent years. She was formerly parenting agony aunt for HuffPost’s Parentdish website and a monthly contributor and freelance section editor for Mother and Baby Magazine. She has also written for, among others, Junior Pregnancy and Baby, Smallish and Right Start.
PERSONAL
Liat Hughes Joshi puts her own theories in practice as a mother and lives in London with her teenage son and handsome but unruly dog. An outdoors kind of family, they particularly enjoy running and hiking together.
