Grammy nominated songwriter, Motivational speaker, Journalist, Activist Send enquiry ›Internationally renowned singer songwriter and producer Vanessa Brown aka ‘V V’ Brown has enjoyed a stellar career in the music business, appearing on the David Letterman show in the USA and Later with Jools Holland three times. She established an ethical fashion business in 2013 and is well placed to comment on issues of identity, race, female empowerment, start up culture and the music industry.
Her forthright views have featured on BBC radio 4’s Fourthought, Channel 4 news, Daily Politics and other commentary television programmes. In 2016 she carried out a TEDx talk about identity which was met with a standing ovation. She has also written for The Guardian, The Huffington Post and The Independent.
In 2016 Brown wrote a children’s book called Lily and the magic comb, which addressed the subject of the lack of multiculturalism with the publishing world. The children’s book was met with raving reviews and was noted by The Independent as one of the top ten multicultural books of 2021.
A million records sold worldwide, a career that spans over 15 years and a roller coaster ride career with stories ranging from Cheeseburgers with Stevie Wonder, performing with Grace Jones and being the first black person modelling for huge fashion chain Marks and Spencers. V V Brown has seen and experienced a lifetime of moments as an entertainer.

Start Up culture and business development – She has several business and understands the framework of start up culture. She has been a consultant supporting small business get off the ground. Much of her speaking is rooted on how to set up a creative company on a budget.
Mental health and wellness – After overcoming a drug addiction to sleeping pills and surviving a suicide attempt she is also an advocate for change. She often talks about mental health and wellness. She draws from her experiences to talk about the power of change through self-belief.
Women and abuse – Brown is a victim of rape and has talked about her experiences of overcoming relationship abuse and how to transform ones self through trauma and pain.
